Paddle for Black Lives Matter

Kayak/Canoe Parade starts at…

Rally point: Treman Marina, 805 Taughannock Blvd

Boats will  proceed along lakeshore at Stewart Park, then return to Treman Marina.

RT 1-2 hours

Launch fee if you launch from Treman is $7. If you would like to launch from another point and paddle to the meeting point, feel free to do so!

There are parking spaces near the launch site.

Life jackets are required. 

Social distancing and masks required on land and when within six feet of other boats.

Order $20 banners by 9 Sept or make your own!

Drummers welcome in boats or on shore.

All participants receive four-color “No Peace Without Justice” pens.

Event: Paddle for Black Lives Matter

Start Time: 1:00 PM Saturday 12 September 2020

Start Point: about 50 yards west of the Jetty at the end of the Inlet Canal (see attached map)

               Staging area: Participant vessels will launch from various locations behind Wegman’s,  Cass Park,  and Fall Creek. They will assemble for the approach to the start. point at the Treman Marina launch slips.

               At the Treman Launch Paddlers will receive BLM flags and duct tape  if they have none, whistles if they have none, Covid Questionnaires,  “No Peace Without Justice” pens and quarter cards with info on absentee voting, voting by mail, other critical facts

Parade Route

               Start point is around the east side of the jetty, near the lighthouse. First point to lead the parade: Dragon boat (see Amy Somchanhmavong @ ayk3@cornell.edu) Her boat will launch from Cass Park launch site. Boats will proceed to Stewart Park shore, pass eastward along shore about 25-30 feet out. They will not put in on the shore where they will then circle back to their launch points.
